Young Starz Dance Program, a youth program established in 2013 by Tah-tiana Lux, Vice President of Regional Operations and Programs for True Blessings.Young Starz Dance Youth Program Partners with Girl Scouts Of Western Washington
Youth who participate in the program have the opportunity to express themselves by choosing songs, creating dances, distributing snacks, and connecting emotionally with staff and volunteers. They participate in Icebreakers, where they gather in a circle or small groups with the intention to get to know their peers and learn that they all add value to the program.
All participants have the opportunity to coach a class for the day (participation required). Youth have the opportunity to provide and/or serve snacks to their peers, mentor other members, demonstrate dance techniques, and demonstrate leadership abilities.
Young Starz Dance Program provides a safe, supportive environment for youth and staff to actively promote engagement and healthy interactions within the program and surrounding communities. YSD focus on youth receiving leadership opportunities within a structured influenced atmosphere promoting youth voice and feed back. Young Starz does not discriminate by age, race, color, religion, sexual orientation, physical or mental disabilities, gender, or national origin.
